Rainbows Give Hope
In December, when some people are anxious to see what hope a new year brings, TeamMates mentors and mentees were busy creating some hope of their own. Matches made over 150 rainbow keychains to give to families that are a part of No Footprint Too Small.
In 2016, No Footprint Too Small launched in Lincoln, NE as a support for grieving families. One in four women have a miscarriage of a baby, resulting in nearly one million miscarriages per year. No Footprint Too Small provides care packages, memory bears, financial assistance, and most importantly, a listening ear to these families. Their services are free.
Each October, they also put on the Wave of Light event. At this event, families around the world light a candle in remembrance of pregnancy and infant loss. The Lincoln event is also a time when families who have experienced loss can connect with one another. It’s at the event that families receive a care package. The rainbow keychains made by TeamMates matches will be given in these care packages as a sign of hope for grieving families.
A rainbow signifies hope and joy after a period of grief. Many families are able to have another child after their loss, which is often called a “rainbow baby.”
