Mentor Training

Lincoln TeamMates has a proven record of success with excellent mentor training and support.

New Mentor Training

Potential mentors are required to attend an initial, three-hour in-person training session before being matched with a student. This interactive training addresses policies, activities, concerns, and responsibilities. When mentors complete training, they leave confident and inspired.

Mentor Refresher Training

Active mentors are required to attend a refresher training every three years. This discussion-based training provides mentors with policy and program updates and reminders of available resources.

Other Opportunities

Mentors are also encouraged to participate in one learning experience each year, such as a Mentor Academy or a TeamMates-sponsored group event.

Mentor Academies

Mentor Academies are one-hour learning sessions that provide additional training and education on topics that are requested by Lincoln TeamMates matches. Academies are not required trainings, but all mentors are encouraged to attend. Learn more about the next Mentor Academy.

School Academies

School Academies take place during a class period at a middle or high school in Lincoln, allowing mentors and mentees at that school to participate in a learning activity together. Locations, dates, and times vary each year, so mentors should be on the lookout for communication about an upcoming event.
