Serving Up Sunshine with Meals on Wheels

Volunteers drive all over Lincoln delivering fresh, healthy meals to 500 seniors and those with disabilities everyday. In 1967, Tabitha started this Meals on Wheels Program in Lincoln to ensure many Lincoln residents had access to a yummy meal.

Besides the meal, volunteers provide a very important safety check. Many volunteers are able to deliver a meal face-to-face in a person’s home, ensuring they are healthy and doing okay. If not, they are able to call for help.

Perhaps the most important thing this service provides is joy. Each Meals on Wheels lunch bag that is delivered is decorated with a sweet message of hope. In March, Lincoln TeamMates matches had the privilege to decorate some of these lunch bags for Tabitha’s Meals on Wheels. Over 260 bags were decorated and delivered to people in our community.
