Forever Friends on Display

Each January, Lincoln TeamMates celebrates National Mentoring Month. MENTOR National and the Harvard School of Public Health started National Mentoring Month in 2002 to celebrate the positive impact of youth mentoring and to increase awareness for the need for additional adults to volunteer as mentors. There is not only a positive impact on mentees with a mentor, but we hear consistently that mentees are changing the lives of our mentors, too.

Knowing that January is National Mentoring Month, for the Community Service Project, matches were asked to complete a project for someone close to their heart: their TeamMate! Nearly 250 buttons were made in celebration of TeamMates and are being worn with pride. Some matches expressed the strengths they see in their TeamMates, while others wrote how their TeamMate makes them feel. Many of the buttons said one simple thing: “Thank you for being my forever friend.”
