2023 Carmen and Tony Messineo Community Involvement Award Winner: Community Health Endowment

TeamMates Coordinator, Jim Bennett, presenting the award to Dr. Marilyn Moore, CHE Board of Trustees

The Community Health Endowment touches the lives of nearly every person in our community. Their vision, to make Lincoln the healthiest community in the nation, has made possible projects like the Mourning Hope and Schroder Park Wellness Center, the Lincoln Fresh Truck, The Healthy Food Access Kitchen, the Veggie Van, and Health 360 integrated care. CHE also provides support for women working to achieve sobriety and others who need support with breastfeeding.

Lincoln TeamMates is grateful to be a partner CHE chose for bringing bold, creative ideas that help make this vision real. For the past three years, CHE has supported the Lincoln Youth Mentoring Coalition; TeamMates is a lead member. The coalition’s State of Mentoring Report in 2021 helped Lincoln better see the unmet need for youth mentors.

CHE’s Place Matters mapping project, now in its 4th update, helps us understand how where we live, learn, work, and play in Lincoln affects our health. The Place Matters maps have helped Lincoln TeamMates better identify and serve communities most in need. A 3-year partnership we’ve recently begun with CHE will make sure we continue to make the biggest difference possible for the greatest number of young people in Lincoln.
