February Community Service Project

Each month, TeamMates will offer a new community service idea for mentors and mentees to participate in together. These projects will help mentees learn about responsibility and compassion while giving back to the community.

Thank You Cards for the Lincoln Police Department

January 9th was Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (LEAD), but, since TeamMates was busy celebrating National Mentoring Month in January, we wanted to use this month as an opportunity to say thanks.

The first police force for the City of Lincoln was formed in 1870, comprised of just three men. Today, there are 355 police officers of both genders in the Lincoln community. In 2016 alone, these officers responded to over 120,000 calls across our city. That is a lot of work. We want to say, “Thank You!”

TeamMates mentors and mentees can help show their appreciation! Lincoln’s TeamMates would like to send Thank You cards to all 355 men and women in the Lincoln Police Department who help to keep our community safe.

All cards should be delivered to the TeamMates office at 5905 O Street by Friday, March 2.

If you have questions, would like to request materials be sent to the school where you mentor, are unable to drop off your cards to the TeamMates office, or would like to be involved with delivering cards, please contact Stacey Blizek at sblizek@lps.org or call the TeamMates office at 402-436-1990.
